South Coast Nationals Wrap-Up: A Massive Weekend of Racing at Portland

The South Coast Nationals once again delivered a huge weekend of racing at Portland’s iconic South Coast Raceway, with three days of action-packed qualifying and eliminations across some of the toughest categories in Australian drag racing. Perfect track conditions, big fields and plenty of close racing set the scene for an unforgettable event as racers battled for points, pride, and the early-season momentum that can shape a championship year.

After two intense days of qualifying, Day 3 eliminations showcased the very best of ANDRA sportsman drag racing. From junior categories to the heavy-hitting Supercharged Outlaws, every bracket delivered standout performances and well-earned victories.

🏆 Event Winners – South Coast Nationals

New Gen Business Park Competition Bike – Edge Mallis (#687)

Edge Mallis powered through the field with consistency and sharp reaction times, sealing the win in the highly competitive Competition Bike bracket. His machine was flawless all weekend, proving both rider and bike were perfectly dialled in.

Junior Dragster – Ava Walker (#7450)

Ava Walker continued her rise through the Junior Dragster ranks, showing maturity beyond her years with cool composure on the start line and precision down track. She fought through a tough field to collect an impressive win.

New Gen Business Park Junior Drag Bike – Cooper Plummer (#1321)

Cooper Plummer took out the Junior Drag Bike title with a string of clean, consistent passes that left no room for error. His performance was one of the standout junior efforts of the entire event.

Ballistic Performance Parts Modified Bike – Dean Jamieson (#1)

Number One plate holder Dean Jamieson proved exactly why he wears it, dominating Modified Bike with ruthless consistency. Jamieson once again showed why he’s the benchmark in the class.

Gallagher Modified Eliminator – Adriana Cartledge (#3708)

Adriana Cartledge delivered one of the most impressive campaigns of the weekend, cutting fantastic lights and holding her nerve in tight finish-line races to secure the Modified Eliminator win. A huge result against a strong field.

Super Comp – Shayne Reid (#581)

Shayne Reid showcased elite-level driving and car setup in Super Comp, navigating the unforgiving index-based format with precision. His team executed perfectly across all rounds to bring home the win.

New Gen Business Park Supercharged Outlaws – Shane Baxter (#178)

The heavy hitters in Supercharged Outlaws didn’t disappoint, with Shane Baxter storming to victory. Baxter’s blown machine was on rails all weekend, making him one of the most dominant forces in the bracket.

Three Dimensional Construction Super Gas – Adrian McGrotty (#1442)

In the ultra-precise world of Super Gas, Adrian McGrotty was unbeatable. Hitting the 9.90 target with deadly consistency, McGrotty drove with textbook precision to secure the title.

The South Australian Drag Racers Association Super Sedan – Tony Tedesco (#247)

Tony Tedesco triumphed in Super Sedan after surviving a stacked field featuring some of the toughest racers in the country. His combination of quick lights and rock-solid dial-ins proved impossible to beat.

Goodyear Racing Super Street – Stefan Lainas (#4656)

Stefan Lainas dominated Super Street, taking home the win thanks to a weekend of clean passes and smart driving. His setup was spot-on throughout eliminations.

Top Sportsman – Daniel Jones (#3065)

Top Sportsman lived up to its reputation for speed and unpredictability, with Daniel Jones emerging victorious. Jones delivered blistering ETs combined with razor-sharp driving, securing a well-earned win in one of the event’s premier categories.

A Weekend to Remember at South Coast Raceway

With perfect weather, a polished track surface, and passionate crowds filling the venue, the South Coast Nationals once again proved why it’s a must-attend event on the ANDRA Sportsman Series calendar. The racing was clean, competitive and full of standout moments from juniors through to the elite brackets.
